An auth code, or authorization code, also known as an EPP (Extensible Provisioning Protocol) code, is a secret and unique set of characters assigned by the domain registrar. This code is a crucial security measure used to ensure that only the rightful owner of a domain can authorize its transfer to another registrar.

Here’s a basic overview of the domain transfer process using an auth code:

  1. Unlock the Domain: The seller unlocks the domain at their current registrar.

  2. Request the Auth Code: The seller requests the auth code from their registrar and provides it to the buyer. In most cases, the seller would give us the auth code, and we would handle the transfer from there.

  3. Input the Auth Code: The buyer inputs the auth code at their registrar.

  4. Approve the Transfer: The seller approves the transfer. This step is not always required, but it can expedite the process.

The auth code, in combination with other security measures like domain locking, ensures the security and legitimacy of domain transfers.
